In one of the most anticipated bridal collections of the year, Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf – known for their inimitable scent Flowerbomb – debuted Mariage, a collection of 20 high impact wedding gowns for couture-loving brides. Like their perfumes, V&R delicately balance the sweet with the edgy in each of these gowns. Three-dimensional floral appliques adorn bold asymmetric silhouettes, and features such as bow-spine backs and dramatic ruffles come at you with aplomb, making no excuses for their theatrical, almost surreal nature.
The Viktor & Rolf bridal collection is by no means for everyone, and each gown (or trouser suit!) demands a bride with shed-loads of confidence and a real, innate sense of style. We love the overall volume of some of the beautiful ballgowns in the offering – which harken back to the era-defining wedding gowns from early Vera Wang and echo the exquisite, experimental styles of Carolina Herrera. Bold embellishments, structured cuts and heavy, serious fabrics are the cornerstones of Viktor & Rolf bridal, and we cannot wait to see more.
